On Monday 6 July, explore the work of two internationally acclaimed British artists in jewellery David Watkins (b.1940) and Wendy Ramshaw CBE (1939-2018) in the company of curators and modern jewellery specialists, Rachel Church, Amanda Game, Dr. Frances Parton, and Dr. Dora Thornton at the Goldsmiths’ Centre. The talk launches a new book, Watkins + Ramshaw: A New Vision published by the Goldsmiths’ Company, drawing together new research on both artists developed for an exhibition of the same name at Goldsmiths Hall in 2025.
Each curator will give a different insight into how these innovative modern designers consistently and successfully presented a new vision for jewellery in materials from paper to platinum which included fashion collections for London’s Swinging Sixties and major works and collections (represented in over 70 museums worldwide) which drew on the art and industrial technologies of the modern world.
After the talk, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, purchase the new book and have it signed. Watkins + Wendy Ramshaw: A New Vision, can be pre-ordered from the Goldsmiths' Centre online shop, for collection and signing on the night.
Tickets are priced at £15 per person and include a glass of wine or a soft drink.
