Creative Producer - Fixed Term/Freelance

The Company would like to appoint a Creative Producer to manage and coordinate all celebration activities and ensure successful delivery of the 2027 programme. They will work closely with staff and leaders across philanthropy, exhibitions and collections, library and archive, membership, communications and marketing, Goldsmiths’ Fair, the Goldsmiths’ Foundation, the London Assay Office and the Goldsmiths’ Centre.

Background and introduction

In 2027, The Goldsmiths’ Company will celebrate its 700th anniversary. The Company and the wider Goldsmiths’ group (London Assay Office, Goldsmiths’ Foundation, Goldsmiths’ Centre) are planning a series of cultural, creative, social, philanthropic and civic events and initiatives to mark this moment.

Many elements of the year’s celebratory programme are already in progress and well-developed. These include, for example, the opening of the Goldsmiths’ Gallery at the new London Museum at Smithfield, a series of Landmark Grants from the Goldsmiths’ Foundation, a book on the 700-year history of the Company, the digitisation of the Company’s collections and archives, membership events, a major jewellery exhibition at Goldsmiths’ Hall, and a special service at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Other elements of the programme are currently in development.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Project management: Manage and coordinate all aspects of the 2027 programme to ensure delivery on time and on budget. Develop project timelines, keep project leads accountable and on track, coordinate across departments working with the CEO, directors and heads of department.

  • Programme development: Further develop the 2027 programme ensuring a coherent, well-planned suite of events to meet the 2027 celebration’s aims and objectives.

  • Budget Management: Manage and coordinate project budget, working closely with departmental heads and finance team.

  • Membership engagement : Work closely with the membership team to involve and engage the Company’s membership in planning and delivery of the 2027 programme.

  • External partnerships: Coordinate with external stakeholders, including the City of London, the jewellery and silversmithing industries, charitable partners and cultural and creative partners. Act as lead contact for specific partners.

The Creative Producer will report to the CEO, to the 2027 Working Group, the Court of Wardens (executive board equivalent) and Court of Assistants (board equivalent).

Requirements and experience

We seek a highly organised individual with extensive, professional experience of cultural project management, programme management, event management and partnership working. The ideal candidate should be committed to delivering high-quality projects on time and to budget, working well under pressure and well-versed in working on complex projects with multi-disciplinary teams.

You should have:

  • Extensive experience as a creative producer or project manager in the creative, cultural or events sectors.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and client needs.

  • Strong budget management and financial reporting skills.

  • Experience of working with and managing multi-disciplinary, multi-functional project teams.

  • Ability to collaborate with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

  • Evidence of previous projects, programmes and events successfully delivered.

Contract details

Freelance: Self-employed, freelance role

Fixed term: 150 days over 28 months, from September 2025 to December 2027

c. 5 days/month, with periods of greater and lesser intensity over the contract period

Start date: September 2025 (negotiable)

Fee: £75,000 full fee
