The Trial of The Pyx has taken place at Goldsmiths’ Hall, in the City of London since 1871. However – due to an exciting renovation project taking place at the Hall – for the first time in history we are relocating the Trial and the Verdict to Mansion House in 2026. Security is high, spaces are limited, but we are thrilled to give forty people the chance to experience this ancient judicial ceremony in person!
This summer we began the redevelopment of three large spaces on the ground floor of Goldsmiths’ Hall which housed part of the London Assay Office from 1835 until 2020. The project opens up previously divided spaces, removes decades of contemporary fittings and fixtures, and restores or reinstates heritage features, to create a new permanent exhibition vault and two large multi-purpose spaces for meetings, events, and exhibitions.
Dame Susan Langley DBE has made history as the 697th Lord Mayor of London and the first to be styled Lady Mayor. Sworn in during the Silent Ceremony at Guildhall, she received a unique gift from the Goldsmiths’ Company – a sterling silver date punch symbolising the tradition of hallmarking and the start of a new era.
