London Assay Office hallmarks first ever solid gold payment card

The Royal Mint has unveiled its first of a kind 18kt gold payment card. As it is 18kt gold and above the hallmarking weight threshold of gold in the UK, the card requires a hallmark by law. The Goldsmiths' Company Assay Office was therefore selected to assess the cards and apply the relevant hallmarks.

Seen as a major selling point, the hallmarks provide the buyer with the guarantee that the card is made from real gold, essential to the clientele who will be purchasing the card.

So as well as offering the benefits of an exclusive account, the card also brings the legitimacy, quality and heritage ensured by the leopard's head of the London Assay Office, the home of hallmarking.
