The Two Ridings Community Foundation receives a £100,000 grant
The Two Ridings Community Foundation has received a £100,000 grant from the Goldsmiths’ Company Charity.
A grant making charity that supports North and East Yorkshire, York and Hull, Two Ridings Community Foundation has distributed over £7.8 million to over 3,000 projects and has raised an endowment of over £2.6m million for the long term benefit of local communities.
As well as providing essential funding for small, community projects, the Two Ridings Community Foundation is a vehicle for charitable giving. The Foundation works with individuals, families and companies who want to support their local communities to design bespoke grant making that targets specific issues or geographical areas.
There are 46 accredited community foundations in the UK, all under the umbrella organisation UK Community Foundations (UKCF). UKCF delivers UK-wide fundraising and grant making through individual community foundations in partnership with organisations such as Comic Relief.
Two Ridings Community Foundation will use the funds to encourage more local giving through donors setting up funds for good causes in the region.
Ciorsdan Brown, Grants Manager at Goldsmiths’ Company Charity said: ‘We are delighted to be supporting and partnering with Two Ridings Community Foundation with a grant of £100,000 over two years. By way of extending our reach beyond our home of London, The Goldsmiths’ Company has been supporting Community Foundations since the network’s inception back in the late 1980s. Up until this point the Company had never ventured in to Yorkshire but in light of recent challenges in the area the committee felt that they wanted to support a community foundation which had proved itself in addressing increased local need at a difficult time. Two Ridings Community Foundation impressed us with their in depth knowledge of the local area and professional approach to both fundraising and grant making, having successfully managed funds on behalf of York & North Yorkshire Flood Funds.
We are very excited to see how Two Ridings Community Foundation develops over the next couple of years as it embarks on a new phase, which will ensure that more people in the diverse, vast and beautiful Two Ridings area of North and East Yorkshire are supported through the Community Foundation and the fantastic work of local voluntary sector organisations.”
Jan Garrill Chief Executive of Two Ridings Community Foundation said: “This is a major boost to Two Ridings Community Foundation and we are confident that with Goldsmiths’ support we can do even more to promote the positive benefits of local philanthropy. It’s a great way for successful individuals, families and businesses to support the hundreds of great local charities and groups in our region.”
