Did you know?

  1. The word 'hallmark' comes from the location of Goldsmiths' Hall, where we have been assaying precious metals for 700 years.
  2. Last year the four UK Assay Offices applied a hallmark to over 8.5 million articles!
  3. It was King Edward I who decided that silver and gold of the correct standard be marked with the ‘King’s mark’. Today, London's leopard town mark is descended directly from that first stamp of quality.
