Goldsmiths’ Fair launches the Emerging Business Bursary

Goldsmiths’ Fair is pleased to announce the launch of the Emerging Business Bursary scheme, created to celebrate and nurture talent in the design and making of jewellery and contemporary silver.

Goldsmiths’ Fair is the Company’s annual selling event and exhibition that showcases a curated selection of work by some of the best fine jewellers and contemporary silversmiths creating and making in the UK today.

Since 2000, the Goldsmiths’ Company has supported designer makers at the beginning of their careers with a Graduate bursary scheme for Goldsmiths’ Fair. For 2024, the bursary scheme is relaunched as the Emerging Business Bursary for makers in the first six years of business. The Fair recognises that makers follow different routes into the trade and, as a result, there are no educational or age-related parameters for the bursary.

• The 10 recipients of the Emerging Business Bursary will receive:

• A stand at Goldsmiths’ Fair 2024 with no fees

• £1,500 grant to help prepare for the Fair, which could help to cover materials, display props, travel or accommodation during the Fair

• A series of professional training sessions from the Goldsmiths' Centre (@gsmithscentre) on topics including building sales confidence, brand guidance and social media use

• An optional interest-free silver bullion loan of up to £3,000 to help exhibitors prepare new work for the Fair

To be eligible for the bursary, makers must have started their jewellery or silversmithing business within the last six years and have not exhibited at Goldsmiths’ Fair before. Find the full criteria for applying on the Goldsmiths’ Fair website.
