We run and support a range of initiatives to support the craft and industry throughout the year.

our Awards at New Designers

Each year at the New Designers Exhibition, we present two awards in recognition of outstanding work in Jewellery and Silversmithing. These are selected at the event by industry experts appointed by the Company.

Special consideration is given to work that demonstrates originality in design, the use of traditional and/or new techniques, as well as the potential for commercial development.

Prize

Cash prize of £1,000
Precious metal voucher for £500
Place on annual Getting Started graduate business course
10 years free registration at the Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office
Sponsors’ punch (or second punch if already registered)
£200 credit towards their hallmarking account at the Assay Office
Guided tour of the Assay Office and an introduction to its services

Eligibility

To be selected for an award you must be a graduate exhibiting at the New Designers Jewellery & Precious Metalwork Zone.

Silversmith

Similar to goldsmith; turns silver and gold sheet metal into hollow-ware (dishes, bowls, etc), flat-ware (e.g. cutlery) and other larger scale domestic and commissioned items.
