Trade Training and Development
The Company is committed to supporting a
range of training opportunities that reflect the issues and opportunities
that face our industry and the people working within it.
These include the sponsorship and management of the last formal indentured
apprenticeship scheme for young
people (aged 16–21) wishing to enter the industry as trainees
in London and the South-East. Getting
Started is our annual one-week introductory business course for
recent jewellery and silversmithing graduates from across the UK.
The department is also responsible for organising a programme of masterclasses
and seminars to underpin the professional development of individuals
working within the trade.
A list of colleges and specialist training centres can be found on our Technology Portal.
Jewellery and Allied Industries Training Council
The Jewellery and Allied Industries Training Council was formed in
early 1998 to represent jewellery manufacturers, silversmiths, pewterers
and cutlers and, in particular, to serve the education and training
needs of the industry. The website includes links to career opportunities,
training and qualifications.
