The department operates a technical 'helpline' for the craft and industry. If you have a query with regard to a process, material, supplier or a more general enquiry then we will do our best to help.

Peter Taylor
Director Technology & Training at the Goldsmiths' Company. Responsible for formulating policy and implementing the Company's activities in the support of the craft and industry, encompassing training, apprenticeships, professional development, technical and research activities.

Karin Paynter MA (RCA)
Assistant to the Director Technology & Training at the Goldsmiths' Company. With a background in silversmithing, fashion jewellery design, CAD and research, Karin takes the lead on departmental research activities, links to colleges, graduates and the designer-maker community.

Christopher Corti, B.Sc., Ph.D., C.Eng, FIMMM
Technology consultant for the Goldsmiths Company and World Gold Council, from where he recently retired. He edited Gold Technology magazine and has conducted seminars on gold jewellery technology worldwide. He has been involved with the precious metals industry for 26 years.

Mark Grimwade, BSc., MTech., MIM, CEng, FCGI
Mark has been involved in lecturing on metallurgy and manufacturing technology to jewellers and silversmiths for many years. Mark has been a consultant to the Goldsmiths' Company since 1987 and the World Gold Council and provides vital technical expertise on metallurgical and manufacturing matters relating to the precious metals.
