Continuation
of professional development is a key element of the work
of the Goldsmiths' Company Technology & Training Department.
A portfolio of specialist training has been created to support
both graduates and those who are already established within
the industry through a programme of masterclasses, seminars
and other professional development activities. |
'Getting Started' 19th-23rd January 2009
An Introduction to Business for Jewellers and Silversmiths
Getting Started is a FREE week-long course for recent UK graduates
of precious metal courses.
Delivered as a series of seminars and workshops in January each year,
the programme focuses on the 'next steps' for those wishing to pursue
a career within the industry. The aim of the course is not to dictate
any particular career route for recent graduates: instead the aim
is to provide an opportunity for attendees to review their options
alongside a range of practical help and guidance for those wishing
to pursue a particular career path.

“I feel as if I have gone from
peering through the keyhole into the jewellery world to having
been given a bunch of keys and shown doors (some I knew about
and some I didn’t) ready for me to unlock and walk through,
thankyou.”
“I have enjoyed this course immensely, it has been
great to hear that the majority of the speakers have encountered
the same fears / anxieties that I have had since graduating,
making me realise that anything is possible, thankyou.”
“I think this course is a ‘must-do’ for
everyone wanting a career in the jewellery industry, you have
given me invaluable advice for my future; an important experience
where we were exposed to almost all sectors of the industry.”
