Precious Metal Bursary Competition

The Goldsmiths’ Company ‘Precious Metal Bursary’ is a national competition for final year students at UK college and universities studying on a goldsmithing, jewellery, silverware or related products HND, Foundation or BA degree course. The competition prizes allow winners of the bursary to use silver, gold, palladium or platinum to make their final piece in precious metal.

The competition opens annually in September. Entrants to the competition are required to submit a design proposal and supporting material for their final project. This work should demonstrate design development, quality and consideration of design, professionalism of presentation and individual creativity.

Individual prizes include Bursaries of up to £500 for precious metal, a personalised Award Certificate and an Award Winners display card for Degree Show use and for display if exhibiting at the ‘Goldsmiths’ Company Precious Metalwork Zone’ at New Designers in July 2010.

The Goldsmiths' Company's aim in providing these bursaries is to enable promising UK under-graduate level students to gain experience of working in precious materials prior to completing their studies.
