National Jewellery Steering Group (NJSG)

The National Jewellery Steering Group (NJSG) was established in September 2002, a direct outcome of the DTI Competitiveness Analysis of our industry and the resulting national forum held in July 2002.

The British Jewellers Association provides the secretariat for the group, whilst the chairmanship has now passed to Dick Melly, Clerk of the Goldsmiths’ Company.

The NJSG continues to provide a forum and opportunity for trade bodies and their representatives to exchange information and ideas, the overarching objective of which is to support the competitiveness of the jewellery and silversmithing industry here in the UK.

The impact of this work is perhaps best illustrated by their involvement in the establishment of London Jewellery First, a new, independent body, representing a cross-section of the industry in London.
