Professional Jeweller "Hot 100" 2011

08 September 2011

Professional Jeweller, the authoritative journal for the British jewellery industry has selected Paul Dyson, Director of Promotions and Peter Taylor , Director of Training and Technology of the Goldsmiths’ Company to be part of its annual ‘Hot 100 List’ of the most influential and important names in the jewellery sector.

The full list was announced Tuesday 6 September at a gala reception at One Mayfair.  At the event, copies of the magazine were made available and guests got their first look at who was selected for this unique distinction.

In the magazine Paul Dyson is described in the following terms: ‘As influential as they get, when it comes to connecting buyers and sellers of jewellery.’  In his role as Director of the annual Goldsmiths’ Fair, Paul Dyson works overtime to bring together both experienced and neophyte collectors with the best UK precious jewellery and contemporary silver designers.  His passion for selling the best in design comes from his experience in the highest reaches of the retail sector.  Harrods, Harvey Nicols and Selfridges are all previous employers where Paul served in senior visual merchandising positions.  It’s an attention to detail and creative flair mixed with hard-headed retail savvy that Paul brings to his work on Goldsmiths’ Fair and the newly established Goldsmiths’ Pavilion at London Jewellery Week.  Both signature events are legendary among collectors and craftspeople alike.

As, Director of Training and Technology for the Goldsmiths’ Company, Peter Taylor has spearheaded the creation of the multi-million pound Goldsmiths Centre.  Scheduled to open later this year, the Goldsmiths’ Centre will be a unique institution offering education classrooms, workshop areas, post-graduate education programmes, conference rooms, and exhibition space.  The objective: to support both emerging and established goldsmiths and silversmiths at various stages in their careers.  The Centre builds on the work Peter has already done for the Goldsmiths’ Company through a series of seminars and apprenticeships for emerging talent.

Both Paul Dyson and Peter Taylor are honoured to be included in the Professional Jeweller Hot 100 alongside so many talented individuals from across the jewellery sector.
