    The 1933 Double Eagle is a legend in coin collecting terms. It is possibly the most valuable ounce of gold in the world, inspiring the passions of kings, presidents, collectors, and thieves. In 2002, a 1933 Double Eagle sold for 7.6 million dollars, making it the most expensive gold coin in the world to come to auction up to that time. The actual coin going on display in London has never come to auction and is one of a handful of 1933 Double Eagles known in the world. Read more...

    Young Designer Silversmith Award 2011

    The Victoria & Albert Museum in London was the venue for the culmination of the Goldsmiths’ Company’s Young Designer Silversmith Award 2011. At a reception held on Tuesday evening, October 25, attended by the Prime Warden of the Goldsmiths’ Company, Hector Miller, himself a renowned silversmith, together with Rosemary Ransome Wallis Curator of the Collections at Goldsmiths’ Hall, a pair of stunning silver flower vases made by the winner of this year’s award, Shaun Grace (22), was presented to Mr Martin Roth, Director of the V&A Museum for the museum’s permanent collection. Read more...

    New Designers 2011 is the annual showcase of work from Britain’s leading graduate designers, representing the best in contemporary design.     British Silversmith wins two major awards

    Wayne is one of the 300 craftsmen featured on the Goldsmiths’ Company’s on-line directory www.whoswhoingoldandsilver.com. The two awards were resented within days of each other, the first was The Balvenie Masters of Craft Awards for metal work presented at The Connaught Hotel in London on Thursday June 2, and the second was the overall Grand Prize of the prestigious 2011 Saul Bell Design Award Competition, together with first prize in the Holloware category. The Saul Bell Design awards were presented on Saturday June 4 at a glittering ceremony in Las Vegas.  Read more...
