Using jewels and Gold instead of paint and canvas, Elizabeth is an acclaimed and highly regarded artist. She has become one of the most influential and creative jewellery designers of the last four decades.

Elizabeth takes her inspiration from her surrounds. Gardens, paintings, architecture and animals all influence her work and help her formulate design ideas. It has always been her philosophy that good jewellery can be worn 'day into night', and she was the first to coin this phrase.

Elizabeth's approach to design is as unique as the jewels themselves. She combines different elements in her work which she chooses for their individual beauty; exquisite stones, ancient bronzes, beautiful carvings, baroque pearls - anything where the shape and colour inspire her. Using these elements as an artist uses his palette, she combines them with brightly coloured enamel and highly detailed Gold work to create individual and highly personal jewels.

Collected and worn by influential and stylish women throughout the world, her jewellery is admired for its imaginative use of colour and gemstones. Her close attention to detail together with her highly skilled goldsmiths, bring to life Elizabeth's extraordinary designs. Elizabeth Gage is not governed by tradition, her jewels are an unorthodox expression of her unique creativity.

Commissions

Elizabeth’s favourite job is to make her clients' dreams a reality. She welcomes every opportunity to create wonderful and unique jewels for both special occasions and special people.

One of her most challenging to date has been to create two magnificent 18ct gold crowns to be worn by a bride and groom at a traditional Greek Orthodox wedding. The aim was to evoke all the golden splendour of Byzantium. Elizabeth commented on completion “every woman should be crowned by the one she loves”.

However, please note commissions may take many months to complete but are always worth the wait.

Specialist Techniques

Elizabeth is especially well known for her Gold work and the exquisite detail she brings to each of her pieces. She has her own individual way of using wirework with granulation. This highly decorative process is one of her signature techniques and was developed over several years of experimentation.

The texture of Gold has always been important to Elizabeth and under her direction many hours are spent hammering, quenching, engraving, carving and polishing to achieve the perfect final result.
