Grant Guidelines and Limitations
- Education grants are mainly directed at supporting primary and
secondary education, particularly in the London area.
- Company initiated projects, including the Science for Society Courses, the Primary School Projects
and the Medical Student Bursaries, encompass the whole of the
UK.
- Grants to assist with education for children of London clergy
are considered for those clergy serving in certain City and inner
city parishes.
- Educational grants to individuals are made only where there
is a direct link to the Goldsmiths' Company.
- The following applications normally fall outside the Company's
grant-making policy:
a. Appeals from outside London
b. Capital grants towards new buildings/playgrounds etc.
c. Institutions with large surplus funds
d. Research funding
e. Individual student applications
- The Company's policy is to give moderate grants. The average
over the last two years has been £2,500.
- Applications from any school or organisation, whether successful
or not, are not normally considered more frequently than once
every three years.
Applying for a Grant
Applications for Medical Student bursaries should be addressed
to BMA Charities who will forward selected cases to the Goldsmiths'
Company.
Applicants for London Clergy educational
grants should write to the Assistant Clerk requesting an appropriate
application form.
Applicants for Goldsmiths' Grants for Teachers or Science for Society
Courses should forward appropriate application forms to the Assistant
Clerk.

grant should be made by letter, no more than two sides of A4 in length,
highlighting the case for the Goldsmiths' Company to give its support.
The letter should be accompanied by:
- The completed downloadable Application
Form. The form may be retyped, but should follow the same
format and length (three sides of A4). Legible handwritten applications
are acceptable.
