Researching Gold

The library staff have been engaged in writing, with Tony Dove, a section on gold hallmarking for the book edited by Dr Helen Clifford which will accompany the summer exhibition 'Gold: Power and Allure'.

As well as consulting reference books in the library the project has also included research in the two Books of Ordinances and the early Wardens' Accounts and Court Minute Books.  Standard works on the history of the Company by T.F. Reddaway and L.E.M. Walker, by Dr Lisa Jefferson and John Forbes have proved invaluable.  In the rush to meet the deadline, in-house photography of pages from the archives have been taken for possible illustrative material.  The whole package was proof-read and sent by Friday 20th January.  We await further feedback before publication.
