STUDIO SILVER TODAY 2013


'Studio Silver Today’, is a pioneeringErddig HouseGoldsmiths’ Company exhibition, in collaboration with the National Trust, to broaden awareness of today’s modern silver movement. In 2013, the Studio Silver Exhibition will travel to Erddig House, in North Wales, featuring Wales based silversmith Rauni Higson from 9th March - 2nd November. On Saturday's, Rauni will be demonstrating at Erddig making a beaker inspired by the Sweet Peas at Erddig for a lucky member of the public to win by entering a free prize draw.

The National Trust and the Goldsmiths' Company commissioned a fascinating video of Studio Silver Today at Erddig which can be viewed below:

YOUNG DESIGNER SILVERSMITH AWARD 2013

Kyosun JungOn 12th February, the Young Designer Silversmith Award 2013 judging took place. The competition brief this year was to design a cocktail set.

Kyosun Jung, a second year student from the University for the Creative Arts at Rochester, was chosen from a large number of entries. Congratulations to Kyosun who will make up her piece in the workshop of renowned silversmith Clive Burr. The second prize was awarded to Lucinda Newbound, a student at Buckinghamshire New University. This year, the competition produced joint third prizes, awarded to Jennifer Ricketts, Bishopsland and Mairi Perston, Glasgow School of Art.

The first prize winning piece will be presented by the Prime Warden to the Victoria & Albert Museum for its permanent collection in October.
