Laser
The laser allows marking of logos, signatures, lettering and numbering.
Such work is only undertaken when convenient. Pricing is shown below:
Laser signature, logo: £50 setting up fee + £2 per
mark
Simple lettering, numbering: £1 per mark
All charges are subject to VAT.
Laboratory Services
Special Assay
The following elements can be submitted for assay: gold, silver,
platinum, palladium, nickel (content) or combinations of these
elements. Sweeps and ores can also be determined.
Plating Thickness Measurement
Plating thickness determination costs £38 –
£65 depending on the work involved.
Silver Dating
This service is unique to Assay Office London. It involves
measuring the impurities of a sample taken from a silver article
of unknown date using the technique of inductively coupled
plasma optical emission spectrometry. See Hallmarking Process:
ICP OES. The impurities
are compared with those in a database of impurities of silver
of known dates thus allowing the most probable date range
to be calculated. Note that samples must be taken by Assay Office London. Samples supplied without the object are not
accepted.
