The British Hallmarking Council set to Continue
27 October 2010
The future of the British Hallmarking Council (BHC) was recently up for discussion as part of the Government QUANGOs (quasi non-governmental organisations) review.
Thankfully it was agreed that the BHC will continue with its current role but will be subject to some minor changes in responsibility (it will be expected to have a more direct role in framing hallmarking legislation etc.). The Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office played a leading role in the provision of information to the Government for the review and is happy to report that hallmarking will not be affected.
